Massive Protest Set Against 'World's Most Dangerous Islamist,' Who Lives in Pennsylvania

Posted on 6:32 AM by Unknown
PAUL L. WILLIAMS, PHD
Fethullah Gulen has been called "the most dangerous Islamist on planet earth."
He resides not in Islamabad or Istanbul but within a mountain fortress in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania.
On Saturday, August 31, hundreds of Turkish Americans are expected to descend upon the fortress to protest the "Gulen movement" and the havoc it has wrought throughout Turkey and Central Asia.
Armagan Yilmaz, one of the planners of the protest, maintains that Gulen, who created the Justice and Development Party (Adalet ve Kalkinma, AKP) which now controls the Turkish government, is responsible for the murder of scores of Turkish intellectuals, writers, and journalists - - some of whom were "burned alive" - - and the incarceration of thousands of Turks who have opposed the radical Islamization of the once secular nation.

Abdullah Gul, Turkey's first Islamist President, is a Gulen disciple along with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Yusuf Ziya Ozcan, the head of Turkey's Council of Higher Education.
Under the AKP, Turkey has transformed from a secular state into a nation with 85,000 active mosques - - one for every 350- citizens - - the highest number per capita in the world, 90,000 imams, more imams than teachers and physicians - - and thousands of state-run Islamic schools.
To suppress opposition to his plan of a "new Islamic world order," Gulen, according to Mr. Yilmaz, has created a special police force, known as "Cevik Kuvvet." This force of over 6,000 thugs combs the country to sort out all those who reject Gulen's brand of militant Islam.
"Gulen's deep rooted government is continuing with their early dawn operations to imprison the youth who participate in resistance," Mr. Yilmaz says. "Complaints of our young women who were subjected to sexual attacks and harassment are being ignored by the judges and state attorneys of this deep government infiltrated movement. Not a single investigation of these complaints have been opened."
Gulen fled to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania in 1998 in order to avoid prosecution on charges that he was attempting to undermine Turkey's secular government. He is described in the Turkish arrest warrant as the "strongest and most effective Islamic fundamentalist in Turkey," a person who "camouflages his methods with a democratic and moderate image"
The warrant further says that Gulen has established a network of schools as a front for a sinister plan. "Mr Gulen was planning to use the young people whom he brainwashed at his own schools to set up his Islamic state," the indictment maintains.

Since his arrival in Pennsylvania, US State Department officials have made numerous attempts to deport him. But, in 2008, a federal court ruled that Gulen was a person of "extraordinary ability in the field of education" who merits permanent residency status in the US. This ruling has struck many as odd, since Gulen reportedly lacks a high-school education and speaks little or no English. Odder still is the fact that many individuals who offered testimony on Gulen's behalf were former CIA officials, including Graham Fuller and George Fidas.
At his mountain fortress, Gulen remains guarded by a small army of followers, who follow their hocaefendi's (master lord's) orders and refrain from marrying until age fifty per his instructions. The guards wear suits and ties rather than the traditional Turkish Islamic attire of cloaks and turbans. Yet, when they marry, their spouses are obliged to dress in the Islamic manner, as dictated by Gülen himself.
The Saylorsburg property consists of a massive chalet, surrounded by a recreational center, dormitories, a helicopter pad, and firing ranges. Sentries are stationed at a small hut at the main entranceway that is identified as the "Golden Generation Worship and Retreat Center." Within this sentry post are plasma television screens that project high resolution images from the security cameras throughout the 28 acre compound. Gülen purportedly lives on the third floor of the chalet, and rarely makes himself available to visitors or reporters.
Local residents complain of the sounds of gunfire - - including fully automatic weapons - - coming from the Gulen property and speak of a low flying helicopter that circles the area in search of all intruders. The FBI reportedly has been called to the scene, but no action has been taken to curtail what neighbors allege to be "paramilitary activity."
But is Gulen really a threat to Americans, as Mr. Yilmaz and members of his protest group contend?
Stay tuned.
